Padua, Italy — Environmental responsibility and intercultural cooperation came together during a volunteer initiative Volunteer Ministers in Padua on 4 October 2026.
Working together, Scientology Volunteer Ministers and volunteers from Padua's Muslim, Bangladeshi and Pakistani communities collected around 50 kilograms of discarded materials near the city's railway station.
Participants worked in an area frequently used by residents and pedestrians, removing waste and improving its surroundings.
The latest cleanup followed other examples of cooperation between Scientology and Muslim volunteers in Padua.
The October initiative followed earlier environmental projects in September involving volunteers from different communities.
The cooperation highlights how community service can create opportunities for dialogue and mutual understanding across cultural and religious differences.
The Scientology Volunteer Ministers programme, established by Scientology founder L. Ron Hubbard in the 1970s, supports practical assistance and community service.
For Ivan Arjona, the Church of Scientology's representative to European and international institutions, the initiative reflects the importance of civic responsibility and mutual respect.
"Respect for different beliefs becomes especially meaningful when it is accompanied by cooperation," Arjona said.
The Padua initiative reflects the broader value of cooperation among citizens regardless of religion or cultural origin.
The Church of Scientology maintains churches, missions and groups throughout Europe, with members participating in initiatives involving education, drug prevention, human rights and community betterment.
